2008 – 50 Richest Members of Congress

In the mist of the financial meltdown on Wall Street, I stumbled across a rather interesting article – The 50 Richest Members of Congress.

This article lists the 50 richest members of Congress from the House and Senate.  Out of the 50 members, 23 were Democrats and 27 were Republicans.  Before you start to bash the right, let me make this one note – in the Top 10, six were Democrats lead by John Kerry at $230.98 million, Ted Kennedy and Dianne Feinstein.  Wow!  These figures area based on Congressional financial disclosure forms.

If there was ever a better sample of how our government is out in touch with the average American, this list is a good example.  No wonder Congress has a lower approval rating than the President.
