Boy, what a political season it has been so far. We have seen candidates drop out of the race (Fred Thompson, Joe Bidden, Bill Richardson and Dennis Kucinich), we seen candidates attack each other with malice (Clinton and Obama), we seen candidates putting all their chips in one state (Rudy), we seen candidates come out of no where to snatch a victory (Huckabee) and now we have seen the biggest liar of them all – John Edwards. Yes, even bigger than Bill Clinton.
Okay, maybe I am a bit bold in my statement as a liar, but it sure got your attention, didn’t it??? It wasn’t until recently after reading an Op-Ed piece by Charles Krauthammer in the Washington Post that I realized how much of a circus the Edwards campaign is and I am not talking about the $400 dollar haircuts he seems to enjoy. What I am talking about is his voting record as a Senator from NC and how it contradicts from the campaign he is conducting. Here’s a sampling of his records straight from The Post:
As a Senator, he voted in 2001 for a bankruptcy bill that he now denounces.
As Senator, he voted for storing nuclear waste in Nevada’s Yucca Mountain. Twice. He is now fiercely opposed.
As Senator, he voted for Bush-Kennedy No Child Left Behind education reform. He now campaigns against it, promising to have it “radically overhauled.”
As Senator, he voted fro the Patriot Act, calling it “a good bill…and I pleased to support it.” He now attacks it.
As Senator, he voted to give China normalized trade relations. Need I say? He now campaigns against liberalized trade with China as a sellout of the middle class to the great multinational agents of greed, etc.
As you can see John Edwards is contradicting everything he stood for as a one-term senator from North Carolina.
So this track record makes me ask the following: is Edwards off his rocker, a lair, or just so hungry for power that he will say anything to get a spot in the White House? You be the judge, but remember a person’s record speaks volume.
The question that need to be asked is do you want this man leading the Free World! For me, I would say no! Hopefully the rest of you will do the same. John Edwards, it is time to retire from politics
