Okay all you Battlestar Galactica fans I have good news.  It has just been reported by the Hollywood Reporter, that SciFi Channel has announced that they are picking up “Caprica,” the prequel to BSG.  “Caprica” will start as a two-hour pilot that will begin production this spring.  Air date is yet to be determined.  Ronald Moore and David Eick from BSG will be executive produces of this new series.Caprica City - BSG

“Caprica” has been in the developmental stages for two years and looks like it finally will have a life after all.  “Caprica” takes place 50 years before BSG and will center on the Adam family and the origins of the deadly, evil Cylons.  “I’m very excited about that.  If “Battlestar Galactica’ is ‘Black Hawk Down.’ I would say that ‘Caprica’ is “American Beauty,’” said David Eick.  Eick has stated “‘Caprica’ is all about the inner lives of the people on a plant and how their personal relationships as well as their professional relationships inform what will become the creation of the Cylons.”  Moore mentioned, “It’s a political story, a family story.  It’s about the creation of the Cylons, and it’s about a company.  It’s planet-based.  It’s very character-oriented, very serialized and very much about the characters.  It’s a whole different genre, and that’s what makes it exciting.”

Let’s hope the pilot gets picked up, you can never have too many Cylons in your life…that is for fracking sure!
