With Turkey day and Black Friday behind me, I am ready to join the mad race to find the perfect gift before Christmas Eve. This time of year is always an adventure as I wade through the sea of shoppers to fill my Christmas list for my dear love ones. Like every other male, I hate to shop. Especially when I have to battle crowds which include angry women.
So, I try to keep my shopping to a minimum and purchase a majority of my gifts online if all as possible. However, there are some gifts and store sales that draw me out of my comfortable and safe surroundings.
This year it is Buy More that has done that. They have everything a savvy, price conscious shopper like myself is looking for – helpful staff dressed in green, a wall of TVs that would make NASA jealous, a home theater room that looks like it would be at the NSA, good prices, and the Nerd Herd. Nerd Herd? Yes, a herd of geeks that can help me with all my electronic issues, questions, and guidance. Where else can I find a guy/gal dressed in white shirt, black tie, white socks, high waters, penny loafers, and pocket protector who is willing to give me a helping hand? No where, but at the Buy More.
As I search through the store for the one movie my wife is dying to have for Christmas I can’t help but notice how familiar everyone is. I can’t put my finger on it, but I swear that this store could have a Morgan, a Chuck, and a Big Mike prowling the aisles waiting to leap out with assistance on a moments notice.
Ha ha! I found my wife’s movie. Christmas is now saved! Time to check out and head back to my humble abode, mission accomplished. As I check out I still have this nagging feeling something is so failure with this store. Oh well, it will come to me. Let pay the nice casher and get out of dodge. As I am waking out the doors to my Suburban it has dawned on me…this is Best Buy not the Buy More. Wow! Who would’ve thought that I could mix up a TV show with the real thing? I guess sometimes art does imitate life when you least expect it.
Have a great Christmas and Happy Festivus!

It is that time of the year again…No, I am not talking turkey day or Black Friday but the much-anticipated crime report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation – “City Crime Rankings: Crime in Metropolitan America.” So, how safe is your city?
Well this year’s report is a blast from the past of several years of several years ago. If you guessed Richmond, VA at the most dangerous city, then you are wrong. Thank God since I live there! No, it is the Motor City — Detroit MI. It has once again regained the crown as the most dangerous city in the United States. Below is the Top 10:
- Detroit, MI
- St. Louis, MO
- Flint, MI
- Oakland, CA
- Camden, NJ
- Birmingham, AL
- North Charleston, SC
- Memphis TN
- Richmond, CA
- Cleveland, OH
Looking at the list, I see a trend here…do not live in CA or the Rust Belt if you value your life or Kevlar is part of your wardrobe!
If you would like to know the safest cities, look no further. Check out these results:
- Mission Viejo, CA
- Clarkstown, NY
- Brick Township, NJ
- Amherst, NY
- Sugar Land TX

Since the Writers strike started, it was projected the strike would last for quite awhile due to the enormous impasse between both parties. The last strike that occurred lasted around 52 weeks. So the cry wolf mentality that our favorite shows would be cut short is coming true.

If he campaign funds from Norman Hsu weren’t bad enough from Sen. Clinton, now it has be reveled that at a recent town hall meeting Iowa on November 6th the Clinton campaign planted questions in the audience. Can it be, a Clinton breaking the rules for their own advancement?!!
Mo Elliethee, a spokesman from Sen. Clinton’s campaign, has admitted to planting questions; however, Sen. Clinton was
not aware which audience member had been coached. This fact was confirmed by Grinnell College student Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff – “They were canned.” So they say…like they didn’t know the money from Norman Hsu was against campaign finance laws too!
Okay, it’s a heated election and on the left the field is quite crowded with candidates, so an average person might give her a pass for this first. Chock it up to a lesson learned and move on. But now it as been reveled that she planted question a second time in Iowa!!!
Hillary, are you that stupid! Geoffrey Mitchell has come forward stating he was approached by Chris Hayler from the Clinton campaign to ask a question about Bush/Iraq War and her stance against funding it along with a timeline for troop withdrawal.
We knew politics were dirty especially between parties, but in own party. These elementary stunts are a sign of desperation, showing that Sen. Clinton is not a lock for the Democratic nomination or popular among the mass in the heart of this country.
It also shows she does not have the political charisma that her husband has. If she is desperate enough to use these tactics, what will she do next? Buy an election like JFK? Well, it only November 2007, we have almost a year of these childish shenanigans. Lord help us now!

On July 18th, the world will be introduced to the new face of Evil –The Joker (Heath Ledger) – when the long-awaited sequel in the Batman series – The Dark Knight — will be released. When you think of Batman, most people either think of
Jack Nicolson or Cesar Romero as the Joker. Well get ready to have you socks knock off your feet, Ledger brings the Joker to life like it has never been seen before. The darkest version to date!
This installment of Batman finds our hero, with the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, waging a war on dismantling all organized crime in Gotham. Their success goes unchecked until a new criminal arrives on the scene — The Joker. Joker uses this crack down as an opportunity to steal from organized crime as a way to blackmail them into a united army to take down the Dark Knight. In an interview in the New Your Times recently, Heath Ledger talks about playing this dark figure — the Joker. Here are some clips:
Says the NYT: He is here in London filming…The Dark Knight It is a physically and mentally draining role – his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully – and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.
“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing. And to make sure that he’s fully developed into the role… Here too was his Joker diary, which he began compiling four months before filming began. It is filled with images and thoughts helpful to the Joker back story, like a list of things the Joker would find funny. (AIDS is one of them.) Mr. Ledger seemed almost embarrassed that the book had been spotted, as if he had been caught trying to get extra credit in school.

With the pending Writers Guild Strike and poor ratings this season of their flagship series Heroes, the unofficial news out of NBC is that “Heroes: Origins” will not be getting the six-episode run that was expected in April 2008 and has been pulled from its mid-season launch.
Right now NBC is not commenting on the fate of “Heroes: Origins” nor revealing on what stage the current production process the series is in. If they are considering pulling it, I would say that production is in its infancy.
Also, if the strike runs as long as the 22-week strike in 1988, all shows will be in jeopardy. Who knows, a long strike might not be a bad idea for Heroes, the longer the show is off the air the more opportunity the producers have to save this sinking Titanic.
