Breaking news – Season Four will be the end of BSG

May 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

BSGAt the recent Saturn awards two prominent Battlestar Galactica stars were interviewed about the upcoming season.  In the mist of the interview, it was confirmed that the upcoming fourth season will be the show’s last.

Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff confirmed the news when interviewed by IESB’s Stephanie Sanchez.  No official reason was given yet by the SciFi Channel as to why the show would end.  However, Katee Sackhoff had her own theories, “I think part of the problem is that it’s an expensive show.  It is [a great show], but we don’t have the viewership that a great show should get.”

I would have to agree with Katee that BSG is not only a great show, but it does lack the viewership to sustain it’s operational budget.  However, it should also be noted the show is not on one of basic cable channels for most cable systems.  So, the viewership compared to a FX or USA Network will never be prolific.  It is like comparing apples to oranges.  Too bad that SciFi and NBC/Universal cannot see that!

As we mourn a great show, do not be too fraken sad yet…we have 22 episodes and a movie before the end nears.  I hope to have more about the upcoming season and all rest of the BSG universe in the coming weeks.  So don’t fraken go anywhere!
